We have a long history visiting Slovenia over the years and wow, it has a special place in our heart. It is the smallest of our destinations in terms of surface area, but there is so much to discover in this country!

If you are looking for the Alpine experience, but prefer to keep off the beaten track and busy resorts, Slovenia is the place for you. The pace here is slow and the feeling remote: Find much-needed peace and tranquility high above forested valleys and travel back in time as you walk over mountain passes steeped in history. Our walking holidays visit the glistening waters of Lake Bohinj and the Triglav national park, centred around the country’s highest peak Mount Triglav (2864 m) – which proudly features on the Slovenian flag!

Our Julian Alps of Slovenia Drive and Hike itinerary makes the most of the area, staying first in the village of Kranjska Gora, sitting between the Karavanke range and the Julian Alps. Your second base is in the Lake Bohinj area - situated in the Triglav National Park. An excellent base for accessing the Julian Alps from the south side, along with the lower Bohinj mountains and their beautiful, natural flower gardens.
